The XGN15-12(F) / XGN15-12(F·R) Box-Type Fixed AC Metal-Enclosed Switchgear (hereinafter referred to as "the switchgear") is designed for ring main or radial distribution systems with a rated voltage of 12kV and rated current of 630A and below. It is especially suitable for installation in prefabricated substations for control and protection of power systems. The switchgear is equipped with an insulated-shell FLN36-12D SF6 load break switch or FLRN36-12D load break switch-fuse combination unit. Featuring compact size, light weight, simple operation, low operating force, reliable interlocking, and maintenance-free performance, it is a new generation of high-voltage switchgear ideal for urban power grid renovation and construction.

Normal Service Conditions
3.1 Ambient air temperature: -15℃ ~ +40℃
3.2 Altitude: 1000 m and below
3.3 Humidity conditions:
Daily average relative humidity: ≤ 95%, with daily average water vapor pressure ≤ 2.2 kPa
Monthly average relative humidity: ≤ 90%, with monthly average water vapor pressure ≤ 1.8 kPa

Structure
The switchgear consists of the enclosure, main switch (SF6 load break switch or combination unit), earthing switch, instrument compartment, busbars, other electrical components, and auxiliary parts.
The enclosure is assembled from aluminized zinc-coated steel plates via modular forming. A pressure relief channel is provided at the rear of the cabinet to protect personnel in the event of an internal fault.
The busbars in the busbar compartment are covered with insulation and directly connected to the terminals of the load break switch. The three-phase busbars are arranged longitudinally, allowing the switchgear to be freely extended to the left or right and its layout easily modified.
The instrument compartment is located in the upper part of the switchgear, where ammeters, voltmeters, indicator lights, and motor operating mechanisms can be installed.

Interlocks
The switchgear is equipped with the following interlocks:
7.1 When the load break switch is in the closed position, the operation of the earthing switch is locked.
7.2 When the earthing switch is in the closed position, the operation of the load break switch is locked.
7.3 The front door of the ring main unit may only be opened when the earthing switch is closed; the door is locked in all other cases.
Operation
For switchgear equipped with a load break switch, operation is performed from the front using a dedicated operating handle. The front of the operating mechanism has two operation holes: the upper hole is for the earthing switch, and the lower hole is for the load break switch. When operating, turning the handle clockwise closes the switch, while turning it counterclockwise opens the switch. An optional electric opening/closing device can also be installed for remote operation.
(Note: In some cases where the load break switch is not equipped with an earthing switch, the earthing switch operation hole is used as a door unlock mechanism.)
For switchgear equipped with combination units, the operating sequence is the same as above, except that the opening operation of the load break switch is performed via a manual opening pushbutton. The combination unit cabinet is additionally equipped with a lower earthing switch, which is linked to the upper earthing switch to open and close simultaneously. When closed, it releases residual small currents on the fuse base to improve safety during fuse replacement.
